Pat
Thank you so much! We try to cover the kids as best as we can, when we can. When they are with us, we make sure they have school clothes, etc... to take home from stores that can't be returned in their hometown (I am not joking, we found out the hard way that this was needed).
Carl also sends a check to the school every month for extra events and field trips when he is notified of these things (again, we have to be careful or the kids never see it).
We do our best to make sure the kids are covered no matter what the issue is with the mother...hopefully they will realize that Carl is truly doing his best. Of course, the fact that his daughter moved back here as soon as he got home from Iraq made it pretty clear she could see the difference even at 12!
Thanks Again!

Carl is lucky
to have a woman like you at his side. And you are lucky to have him, too. Don't worry about the nasty stuff his ex tells the kids -- they've got eyes and ears and they know. If she keeps on with the bad mouthing, she'll turn her kids against her, not against her target. Maybe he can do the extras directly for them, not through their mother, and when it comes to child support, etc., do exactly what the legal agreement is and no more. She clearly does not appreciate it.

There comes a time when you know you ahve done all you can. They know where you are if they need you and all you can do is be there when the time comes.

I can relate to all of this kiddo. I was Carl once but I had custody of all my five kids.
And I paid the mortgage, her rent, the shop rent etc. etc. and then she wanted an increase in support for herself.
Then she turned the kids, a bit at a time over the years, until now I have a sort of relationship with 2 of my 5.
Oh well, I'll never understand how she did that, but I learned to accept and back away finally. They were all adults when I put them out into the world. Hang tough you guys.

I will keep good thoughts for you as well. It's sad that these people that there are children in the middle of all of this. One would think that if two people cared enough about one another to have a child with, they would care enough about that child to do all they can to ensure good relationship for that child with BOTH parents. Sadly, it does not always work that way.

Bel,
I am glad to hear that things are sorting out properly. I know it is still stressful, but it is good to see decisions being made for those in the right!

I keep hoping she will jump off the Macinac Bridge! Granted she is too self serving for that, but it's a nice fantasy when she does stuff like this!

I remember that. I used those photos in one of the video's I sent to Carl. He asked about the places he didn't recognize and I told him...those are from people who support you! He thought we were all crazy but you know he still has that video and showed it our daughter just recently.

Bel...why, the sounds of sleeping could be considered a blessing.
I trulyl, TRULY am happy for you. I remember sending you photos on the 4th of July. You've always had my support. It's just too damn bad we didn't live closer to one another. Could've driven down and hand delivered the photos.

Thank you! I seem to recall you were one of the folks who made me smile. having him back home, even if he is already asleep because he didn't get much last night and then had a 6 hour drive home, it's good to hear that sound coming from the bedroom!
