'Nautikos' is Greek for 'sailor', 'cause I like sailing and the water generally. Until recently I had a boat, but I sold it, partly because of the accident that is detailed in my Truck v Blogger series. So I didn't do any sailing at all this year, not even as crew on other boats, since my right hand is still a bit f****d up, but maybe next year...
But you are reminding me to that I should write some haiku again...

So, is your name derived from something nautical? You may have explained it....or it might be something I should know, but I don't.... Anyway, the question just came to me due to the number of times I've already seen your sailing references even in the limited reading in your blogs I've been able to do, so far...
I love your Haiku.....I've never tried it, didn't really know the "rules".....will probably obsess now until I've completed one.....if I have insomnia tonight, you are to blame!!!!

thanks for commenting. I can understand that one might prefer the second one. For me, the first one attempts to convey the anticipation of the joyful feelings found in the second one, without destroying the beauty of the snow glistening in the sun on that 'mastless deck' , or something like that...

NAUTICOS! Excellent work. I so much appreciate that
you follow traditional format. I think anything else simply isn't haiku at all. I am amazed at the people who complained nobody explained what haiku was....my site has a specific explanation and always has. Anyway, Keep up the great work. I to find that driving down the road (when I can't write) is the best time to come up with meaningful haiku and poems also. I'll see you again, friend!

I have lost count of the number of times I have asked in Blogit, for an explantaion of what haiku is. So I thank you my friend, and I enjoyed your own haiku.
Now for me to understand syllables and how they work is just a bit much for an old retired mechanic,but by golly I certainly do appreciate having an understanding of what haiku really is.
Crikey, I thought it was a secret kamikaze organization or something and I wasn't allowed to join.lol
