bel_1965,
I think we're all searching for answers that may never come. I just pray more. I'm sure that will sound silly to some, but I do it anyway.

I am too. Unfortunately, this is the norm for us. Iraq will always be very personal. I generally avoid it all these days for that reason, but this one is too much in our face.

I avoid the news a lot also... it's all bad and if we internalize every
story, it can eat away at us. I'm very glad that Carl is home.

Bel, I just saw your post here.
I couldn't really read the details. I had a bad feeling on this, too. My heart goes out to the parents and family of those two soldiers. How are they supposed to cope with this?

Who knows what horrors befell those two kids, or what they thought about knowing that death was imminent.

There truly is not a good answer when someone you love is over there. People would ask me last year how I was doing and there were days I wanted to scream "How the f**k do you think I am doing" but I know they meant well and most really didn't know what else to say.

it is heartwrenching. my high school sweetie lives in colorado, his son is
overseas and it's all i can do to write and say, "how's things?", 'cause i'm so afraid of the answer.

Carl has admitted if he didn't have me and Pam he would be back there already. I don't quite get what drive them to go once let alone again and again.

Bel, I understand.
I have only one person I know personally who has done a couple of stints there but it is enough. (I
babysat him! His mother was at my parents' house this weekend when he called her...said he was thinking about re-enlisting and going back.

Reason being...those in his command have always returned. Not so with many others. He wants to be there with the men he trained/will train.
