Wow, what an exciting event for your son.  I suppose this is the closest you and I will ever get to meeting, with your partner and son in German for the World Cup!  Personally, I'm rooting for England (not surprise there, I suppose).  Too bad about America.  They really played an excellent game against Italy, and I think the tie demoralized them so they couldn't win against Ghana.

The point of my comment isn't soccer, however.  I wanted to say what a good, supportive mother you are.  Those were excellent words of encouragement for your son, and I wish someone had said them to me as a child.  I might have looked at things a bit differently than I have done.  I think I need to read your advice over again...

Azur,

a family of American soccer fans? Quel surprise...

Too bad the US team didn't get into the second round, but then we Canadians didn't even qualify in the first place! I'm sure your husband and your son will be having a great time...

Blackpearl, I think they'll love the big occasion.
Yes the Beckhams are everywhere but at least he kicks the ball well. England for three years eh? Did you like it?

Fourcats, unfortunately I am waving them farewell and am not making
the journey but I'll watch out for them on TV

Hi, Azur,
Not a big soccer fan, here, but having lived in England for 3 years, I'm familiar with the Beckhams.  He is quite a good soccer player, excuse me, footballer, from what I've seen.  I hope your son enjoys the games, and that you enjoy your time out with your girlfriend.  Brunch sounds great right about now.  :)
