I was fortunate from
when I was little in that I had several people that brought out the best in me. I could read, write and play chess before I started school thanks to my grandfather. I get my love of reading from my mom. I had some brilliant teachers at school that I will never forget. There are so many people in my life who have spurred me on I can't name them all. They have jointly given me the confidence of knowing that I can do whatever I set my mind. In turn, I've tried to help others the same way. I loved the catfish analogy.

excellent post
Love how you draw the parellels between the catfish and those that test and improve us. You're indeed perceptive.
Friendly competitiors are great catfishes. But the problem with competitions it can get too serious and turn unfriendly.

I think that the people in that role can change from time to time
I am always grateful to the people who make me think and act
