Mlle, Read you blog daily. Love your stuff. But please, my girls
and me love Hogan Knows Best! He at least. has a clue what it takes to be a parent. Like never in his career, he is my new hero!

The problem, Aaron, is that almost all the shows worth watching (Arrested Development, Sons & Daughters, etc) are quickly canceled.
Presumably because they don't appeal enough to tweens.

This house is gothic/eerie enough as it is, Blanche ...
Of course, it's
all moot now, anyway, seeing as I wasn't allowed to cook the dinner. Well, I
was ... but
only if my mother "supervised", and she would have made me too nervous.

Cornish Game Hen....
Hmmmm, my uncle has a snazzy recipe but I really don't know it. But I can tell you with certainty it is very cool. Not that this helps.
By the time I became any good at cooking meat (and I got really good!) I became a vegetarian.
It's hard to ruin vegetables. You have to be really talented at that. My husband, however, has just that sort of talent. His name is James, too.
Rambling...
...SO...best of luck and enjoy that delicious wet weather!

The commentators have given you excellent recipes. Some bloggers like steeler have recipe blogs too. The meat won't taste gummy if not overcooked. Set the minimum time, cook, use a toothpick to test the meat, then continue the cooking again. Test every 5 minutes. Hehehehe. Sorry but I think that's the safest way to avoid ruined meat. Moreover, when you cook a large quantity, it takes longer, depending on the temperature and heat distribution. Good luck, Mademoiselle Chef.
10 clicks for your correct solution are in. Congratulations.

The quality of tv really is crap
and yet I can't stop watching. I could cancel cable, but then I'd miss a lot of sporting events and be stuck with the even worse crap on the networks. I was really pissed when I heard Monday Night Football is moving to ESPN; now I have to keep it.

Mademoiselle, if the power goes out, won't that render the whole
question of how to prepare Cornish Game Hens (I'm going with the colloquial, because grammatically right or wrong, the use of the word "hen" to indicate multiple chickens of female persuasion, just does not set well), moot? However, it could give the whole house a gothic and eerie quality and maybe the ghosts in the attic might make an appearance. It's possible the dinner guests might start disappearing mysteriously ala "Ten Little Indians." The plot combinations are fascinating.

We are having bad storms here also but the sun was out all morning and I see the dark cluds moving in again and the roar of thunder. About the hens .. I split them in half because they cook faster and give individual servings and put them under the broiler for several min. before serving.. this browns them very nicely.

I don't really watch the show, Bel ... but I've seen clips ... and they were horrible!
I've also seen the daughter's "music" "video" on "MTV".
P.S. The Osbournes was pretty funny ... for about 14 minutes.
P.P.S. I'd die without access to TCM and the History Channel.

Hogan's wife is grotesque, his daughter is a bimbo, his son is an ugly geek and the whole show is a pale rip-off of The Osbournes.

About those game hens...
I like to roast them, and make a rice stuffing with poultry seasoning and dried fruit bits, and a bit of spice like cinnamon or nutmeg. I baste them with soy-sauce mixed with orange juice concentrate, and garlic. and adolop of white wine doesn't hurt it a bit!
