Nautikos...your Haiku is perfect as far as I'm concerned...
not just seventeen syllables, but seventeen syllables that impressed...i continue to think about this lovely small word-painting. so glad you took a chance on writing Haiku...another sonnet would be nice, also...

TAPS,
thanks. I've confessed it before, and I will do so again: I'm not immune to flattery...

Nautikos, we like your strengths. Do only what you want to. If you try to force yourself then its no fun. Although, I'll bet you wouldn't have to work very heard. You have a very creative mind.

TAPS,
thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I'm a little intimidated by that avalanche of creativity pouring out from you and the other 'haikers', since my own strength is really in other areas...

Wiley,
thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it! Yes, it is amazing, every time it happens, once or sometimes twice a year, I find it kind of overwhelming...

Beautiful, both poetry and flower, wow, amazing plant. I have a cactus now, plants from Manu, it's a little round thing so maybe it will flower too. Great post my friend

.Dave,
thanks for dropping in! Your reaction doesn't surprise me!

I was totally overwhelmed when she first flowered for us some years ago, quite unexpectedly, after she had been with us for quite a while. She has done it ever since, and is an important member of the family! It’s a Baja Organ Pipe Cactus,
stenocereus stellatus. By the way, I have another picture of her, taken last year from a slightly different angle. You can find it on my other blog, posted on June 10.

SilverMoon,
thanks, I really appreciate your comment! Her flowering is always an important occasion for us, one of the events that form the rythm of the year...

What a spectacular thing to wait for, once a year.
What a treat it must be when it happens twice.
What a cause to celebrate life and its diversity of beauty.
It takes my breath away.

Rumored,
it's in her nature, she has only one hurrah once a year, rarely twice, for a one night stand...
