That is one of the greatest problems we have today, we have a total breakdown in polite conversation. Anything else often leads to escalation and on to anger, hurt feelings and now we are off to the races.

Thanks for reading me. I usually can find your laugh post and bring my attitude up. I do appreciate you.

Agree with you Justi.

If anyone wants to disagree with you let them do so in a mannerly, civilized way.

If they can't deal with you on the level you deal with them, don't engage, and don't worry about it.

Lets see how one person holds a discussion, pretty much the same as one hand clapping?

Justi, there's just a lot of people out there whose mothers and fathers

didn't teach them how to respect others and communicate with them with a civil tongue.  So, dear lady, when these people get into your blog and don't know how to talk to you, just ignore them, erase their nastiness, and go on with your life.  They don't deserve your consideration or your response.  Just shoo them away, like you would a pesky fly.

You're a good person and don't deserve to be harrassed.

You are right. There are fires that run for years like in the oil fields. Some just pop up again every time there is a single breath of air. But we must always smother them. I thought the block button would smother and I don't go to another's page commenting. But hopefully it is in ember stage now, we will see.

Thanks, have to gather up and go on ya know. You have run into this problem time and time again. They stop short of some of the stuff they do to me.

you know I try to stay away from these battles, but I think it's in

your best interest to ignore the bait.  I'd like to see you both move on and enjoy life.

The best way to put out a fire is to smother it.... in this case, with silence.

Debating is a forum for lawyers and debaters not for me, I am to basic. Thanks to both of you.

Hi, Justi,
Been out of the loop for a few days, but I'm glad to come back and read such a spirited post from you.  I wouldn't expect anything less.  I've enjoyed reading the comments you've gotten so far, also.  God bless.  :)

Of course none of that has a place in debate.

Avant-garde,  I think that quite a few people  here attempt to conduct civil debates but are dismayed  when the responses go off topic and degenerate to insults.

To paraphrase Thomas Carlyle.............................

“A person lives by believing something: not by debating and arguing about many things.”

I fully agree with Azur. It would be a spectacle of wisdom, were that to happen here.

I do agree. I can see things 180 degrees from the view of another and support their right to believe as they choose. I can't tolerate people being ugly underhanded stealing your material, using verbal or physical violence and I will not respond to any such behavior from anyone again. There are many non believers and many believers on here. It is not my goal or job to change any one of them, only to state my point of view. Thank you for your comments.

Debate is a powerful thing giving air to our thoughts if we let it. Good debate allows  varying perspectives.  The power of debate is that we grapple with  the topic rather than individuals. The beauty of debate is  that it provides a forum where anything can be put on the table then afterwards the individuals shake hands and go home with their ball or whatever not thinking less of their opponents.

I believe it takes a courageous person to realize when they are only hurting themselves by remaining in the fray.

You did not say ugly things, just told me what I needed to hear. It is only when people are ugly to others in their comments that I believe their words are not longer opinions but bullying slander.

I am glad you understand.  I was worried you might take what I was saying as me berating you and by no means was that the intent.  I just think we give way too much attention to the negative sometimes and it's frustrating  and upsetting when others attack what we believe at our very core.

In the end you know God knows and sees all.  He will handle it.   One thing I will never say is that you are not PASSIONATE!!!
