I think you did the right thing.
although can I say please be careful. as I did the same in my old property...neighbours were constantly having parties...my children could not sleep.
I knocked at there house many of times only to be told fuck off and music gets louder...I called the police so many times and each time they come out they would say to them that I hadn't knocked....but will keep it down (they never did)
one night, I had enough and screamed that if they didn't shut up I will get in and turn it off myself.
that same night whilst I was in bed - 3 men smashed my door down and attacked me in front of my children. I had to go hospital.
I then had to go court and be moved...
these men were associates to my neighbours..

Honestly, I don't think you were being a bitch at all. I would have done it; they were being assholes.
I'm guessing they had been very responsible and saved up for that stereo and then got it on sale and had a coupon. 
It was drug money; they certainly don't get thet kind of money from public assisstance!

Yes it does.
I'm sure they sell drugs on the side but they have two kids, three cars one brand new. It drives me nuts I've been driving the same car since high school, same paying job just above minimum wage and I can't afford a new stereo system let alone new clothes for myself and my kids. I just get my kids clothes and buy mine second hand.
