Whacky
LOL at the idea of the rain having weed seeds. Looking at our garden, I think it is possible.

I think weeds would grow out of concrete if we watered 'em...
....they have to be one of nature's most persistent nuisances..

i spent a summer once, extracting all the dandelions from my front lawn.
the lawn looked awful for the first few months, brown patches everywhere where the holes had been filled with earth. but by the following summer, oh, that lawn looked nice!
i love how stuff grows out of illogical places. a tree is growing out of a piece of driftwood at one of vancouver's local beaches. wood growing out of wood (different woods) rather than the earth; it looks really bizarre.

Passion-how TRUE!
I have a profusion of weeds to pull. Luckily, I have a lot of good friends who come over, and a few who help with the weeding.

I think it has something to do with
Murphy's Law, which says that any UNwanted plant will grow profusely without much rain or nurturing and any Desired Plant must be constantly coddled and treated delicately in order to barely survive.

...sure hope you don't find knapweed in your yard !! It's taproot can spread all over the place...fast. Pulling it out of there, taproot and all. is part of summer's daily exercise.
