Poverty's a many-tentacled thing
and evil. The harder you work, the more you neglect yourself, the less you have, the less you can produce. And to lose your sight because you can't spare a few hours and a few pennies to get medical help, seems like an extreme test of human endurance.  I thought I'd seen this on Oprah last year some time, she and others were trying to get more doctors and more care for the most depresed areas.  Thanks for the post. :)

Thanks for calling in. Please study their sight, and donate. They are a down on the ground, hands on charity.

Thanks for the information Ariel.
I had barely even heard the name of that disease, much less know anything about it.

Blanche again

And sometimes we were seriously poor too. But what's poor, compared to those people?

We told the kids why they couldn't have some non essential things, and they were okay with it.

then it's well worth considering, Ariel.

I think about fifteen years, but it may be longer. Twenty, maybe.

When we read how little it costs to save a sight, we just had to do it.

I did do a little digging, and saw their pie chart, it is impressive, Ariel
how long have you and Lady Ariela been donating to them?

By all means log on to their site and take a look.

I don't have the current figures to hand, but when he began to support them we were impressed by how low admin costs were.

I'm researching this, Ariel, I don't want you to think me hard-hearted

Trichoma sounds like a horrible disease, and sadly preventable.

I just want a few key facts: ratio of administrative costs to actual funds used for charitable work and some sort of history.  It's too easy to get scammed.  I'm also on a limited income, and there are many appeals for my charitable help.  (BTW, coffee is an essential food group, there's no giving it up, otherwise I would be useless for further chartiable work.  See how it works? )
