Justi, there were about a dozen in all.
Our landlord Jim(the farmer next door) obviously was sparing my feelings, and said the guy who does it, gives them a mixture to make them a little drunk.
I'd wrapped the crow in a blanket, put him a laundry basket, with wet bread within easy reach.
I went next door to drop off the rent, told Jim what I'd done, whereby he told me about the 'doping'. I told him in that case there were a dozen or so 'drunken' crows between his place and mine and that I'd put one from our yard in the shed to recover.
I met Jim's wife a couple of days later, and she told me how that Jim had instructed their son to go around to pick up all the dead crows (including the one in our shed, who I'd thought had managed to recover and fly out - until then). She was giving out about the local farmer who's doing it saying that it's hell on the eco system. Obviously Jim hadn't coached her on the official story.
So I finally got the truth.

I am sorry about the crow. My daughter is the one who gathers in all the wild life, including some humans, LOL. Seriously I can not imagine someone poisoning an animal. So cruel.

You're welcome. Older Mama cats can be quite habit bound,
and initially very wary.
I've seen a couple of generations of ours now (this current Mama Cat is 12) , hit new orphaned kittens adopted into the group with one paw, and then half an hour later pin them down and force a cleaning on them.
Of course these would all be animals I've rescued from various corners and crannies, since aged 18, that'd be about 9.
I leave them at my aunts, who for the most part raised me from that age (along with my Dad), luckily, being a wife and mother now, I'm not out and about as much to encounter anything in need of rescuing ('cept for the crow that was poisoned a couple of months ago, and died wrapped in a blanket in our shed).

They truly are a joy to watch. They are such sweet little things. So full of energy. I have a mama cat very old and she is not the least happy about new babies in the house. LOL Thank you for reading.

Congratulations.
Hope they're not too much work, and are giving you a load of diversion and entertainment.
There's nothing as spirited as them, and they're a pleasure to watch.

Justi, Grace and Mercy will just love you and George. Too bad that they probably won't appreciate all that wonderful cooking you do. They probably would prefer something that tastes like mice. LOL

Thanks for the vote of confidence.I hope I do that well. I have a lovely old lady cat really old and she is not totally happy with a couple of baby brats running wild but we will deal with that. I hope.

No this daughter divorced and they were trying to get back together but never did. Thank you for asking. She is actually the only child I have living now. I have three step children who live away that I love dearly.

Those girls just found a loving home. Congrats Mama! BTW is this the daughter that had her husband return home last year as well? I was just wondering how they are doing the other day.
