So true Ariel, and that is the main cause for todays Middle East War!

Ariel, is that Carlos Santana who said that?

Truly, he who knows not his history is doomed to re-enact it.

Sadly, Ariel, whether it be Spain or the Middle-East ignorance of
history's past is one of the main reasons for conflict in the present!

Thank you for dropping in again, and your continuiing support.

One sometimes has a slightly disturbing feeling of deja vu, but I am hopelessly in love with Spain, and I have no intention nor desire ever to set foot in England again, so whatever happens, this is my country now.

Ariel,
truly fascinating. One has heard bit about ETA, of course,  but with the menace of Islamic terrorism on everyone's mind, one thinks of it as 'small potatoes'. One is even less aware of the degree to which the age-old tensions in Spain persist to this day, mitigated though they may be by the Spanish capacity for reconciliation...

Fascinating and erudite once again. Must give you that linking help.
Remind in a couple of weeks - I'll have more time then.

Ariel, I like the fact that you point out that history tends to
oversimplify.  Abraham Lincoln wasn't the patron saint of emancipation that he's portrayed to be, but he still was a great leader.

Not totally forgotten
I remember learnign a good deal of this in my history course in college.

As you'll see in part two, the Spanish have made a pretty good job of reconciliation so far, but this lunatic Zapatero - a typical socialist meddler - is stirring up old hatreds again. God damn him.

Ariel, it is easy for Americans to forget the Civil War, but any civil war
must cause a violent animosity, and be particularly vicious in pitting brother against brother.  How can those old wounds heal?
