Hi
As a member of the South African banking fraternity I just want to say, Hmph! How can you expect more for your charges? The bank's CEO's need their few million salary a year so no tea for you! (No bitterness - I can't even afford a car and these guys get millions.) P.S. You did know that there will be a charge levied against your account for thinking about the ATM? And another for thinking of the bank? And another for when I think of something else.

I've never heard of such goings on at a bank....
How awful for you! Guess I'll stop bitching about mine. I think you should go ahead and change. It won't be that bad.

I know what corner of what street my bank is on but I don't know its name. I haven't got round to using the drive thru part yet. It takes me all my time to use an ATM.

Husband John walked into the bank one day
and asked the teller, "What is your name this week?"
Truer than funny...

Geez, what a pain in the wallet. I bank at Key bank, and I dont know if the Chinese own it or not. I figure it's not the Japanese, otherwise I would have a yen to know! Sorry!

Banks
What stories can be told! I have tried to cancel a garage card that is linked for my credit card for the past three years. The bank no longer sends me the renewed card but still charge me the fee for having one.
Oh, and my name is spelled incorrectly on my cheque book. Each time I renew the cheque book I point this out and each time I receive the new cheque book the name is still spelled incorrectly. Incorragably inadequate!

My bank only has 3 branches
in 3 very small towns. Still has the original name and the tellers know me by name. I get free checking and an interest bearing savings account, free money orders when I need them, free online banking and tootie rolls when I go in. I also don't pay a fee to use their ATM machine. I like small towns.

Whacky, the name of my bank has been changed several times since I opened an account there. At one point they changed to United MO Bank and then later they changed again to UMB Bank which was pretty silly since the B in UMB stands for bank so it is United MO Bank Bank. But, I've been there since 1958 so they don't charge me for anything. So I guess I can put up with Bank Bank.

i don't use a bank, i use a credit union. i pay a monthly fee of $10 and
can write checks 'til the cows come home, use atm's at will, use any branch anywhere, use my atm card in the states, etc.
the membership fees that are paid as each person signs up collect interest as the years pass. the fee remains yours which you receive back, plus interest when you close the account. i paid $25 to join and my balance is currently at approx. $125 (20 years later). to that amount, Vancity also adds a share of the profits that the union makes each year.
of the profits that the credit union makes, they (Vancity Credit Union) donate huge grants to worthy causes. once a year a voting form goes to each member. we are asked to vote on where we want the money to go. i usually put my vote toward preserving the wetlands and recycling (you can choose as many choices as you want) but this past year they were starting a youth center for youth at risk on vancouver island so i sent my vote over there.
i have a visa with Vancity. 2% of all purchasesgo toward environmental causes.
i love Vancity.

I keep my money in my underwear. I KNOW no one will be willing to go in
there for it. Only problem is that I have to launder it before I can use, especially if I get excited.

Whacky -- My checking accout bank has just merge with my savings account
bank, and they have yet to decide the name; however, in light of your post, and my experience -- Excess Charges Bank Inc. doesn't sound too bad!

I think its now known as the "Bank of the Everlasting Service Charges"
about the only thing they dont charge for (yet) is parking...no wonder they make millions/billions every year.

Banks. What does it rhyme with?
We owe them nothing. They owe us everything.
Stick it under your mattress.
