I heard that saying a few years ago. I believe we should live our lives like this......I need to be more disciplined that is for sure!
I need to make more time for my friends and family. Those should be the big rocks.
But, in reality, my big rocks are are always business related.

Maybe Blackpearl1, you could get a bowl
and stick some big rocks in it ;-)

Azur,
I've read this before, and I really think it's good advice, too. If only I can remember it when I need to. Thanks. :)

I've heard this told as a lecture by someone's college professor...quite a few years back. Love Dave's answer about the hops & extra water! (If the bowl cracks it will be easier to get all the water "in"...LOL.)

Azur, then there is the other whole question of figuring out which are the
rocks, the pebbles, sand, water etc. However, I'd say that the current state is that the rocks and pebbles are fairly well distributed. It's a good analogy.

Azur--- Many of life's problems could be solved if people would just
recognize their priorities and then proceed accordingly, instead of getting caught up in pride, revenge, etc. I like the analogy of the water, rocks, pebbles, and sand.

And if you put all that lot in first, then there won't be enough room for
all the water. So you can add some hops and sugar and brew up some beer.
What if one of the rocks cracks the bowl? That's a serious question actually.
