Actually, Blanche, I don't think it was Roger Ebert who uttered those lines; it was a comedian (during a Friar's Club roast).
In recent years, Ebert has dramatically toned down the personal attacks. Plus, he's always been supportive of Garafalo's career (he even gave Dogma 3 stars).
As to your question, I would have thought the show would just end without Ebert. However, seeing as they've been able to get Kevin Spacey, Quentin Tarantino, and even Jay Leno to fill in opposite Richard Roeper .. I guess I was mistaken.

Mademoiselle, please don't finish so abruptly. He 'grabbed my ass, and I
kinda liked it'. What then? Why did the crowd come in between!

Mademoiselle,
Roger Ebert reviewed a Janeane Garrofalo movie, and said he had some career advice for her, (she'd had a string of dogs, including Dogma, badabump), "You can turn a role down. Your last movie is so bad it opened at Blockbuster. Gene Siskel was going to review it, but he took the easy way out."
That will be sad, if Roger Ebert dies, then who is going to play the foil that twit they replaced Siskel with?

Madem, while 11 years is a long time I suppose, sort of, in a relativistic kind of way, it really is NOT forever. Multiple, nefarious comments come to mind concerning the ass-grabbing but, operating from usual vantage spot of tact, I will refrain from commenting. Moon_Spirit
