What did he do with the duct tape and wire? Trapped the kids at the remote spot and did something?

I'll give you a clue, SilverMoon ...

it involves duct tape and some chicken wire.

There's only one technique that actually works though, Moon.

Hmmm....
Whatever could that secret be, I wonder???

posted by SilverMoon7 on August 8, 2006 at 8:34 PM | link to this | reply

Okay, I'll work on a new technique.

Wow! Triple-post!

How does that happen, I wonder?

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 6:22 PM | link to this | reply

I suppose that's one way to look at it, star4you.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 6:22 PM | link to this | reply

No, BlackPearl, the secret wasn't cool at all.

In fact, it was pretty gross, actually.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 6:21 PM | link to this | reply

Um, Aaron, I think you mean "Tuck, Everlasting" ...

And I've never seen it, anyway, because Alexis Bledel gives me the creeps. She's so weird looking! Her facial features are too precise, or something.

Actually, Ben, these were neither good nor pleasant, so ...

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 6:15 PM | link to this | reply

Let's just say it was funny in a kinda scary way, TallAndSkinnyPerson, rather than in a, say, Garrison Keillor sorta way.

Mademoiselle,
How intriguing.  I'll bet your grandpa has tons of war stories.  How cool that he has a mysterious secret.  Glad you have some good memories of him.  :)

Creepy boy in the tree?
Reminds of the previews for that movie, something like "Everlasting Puck", with the girl from "Gilmore Girls."  Some Peter Pan wannabe kind of thing.

Memories of a childhood that are good and, pleasant....... that would be those good old days.

It Looks As If...

... no one knows the secret.  That he was a war general?  What made it funny in the end?

Sure, Decshak.  And, no, I don't recall ever hearing it expressed exactly that way before.

The axiom holds very true, however.

Define "great", Ben?

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 11:22 AM | link to this | reply

I'm actually going to be posting the full "creepy boy in the tree" story at some point, Hadley ...

Meanwhile, in regards to my grandfather's secret ... some things are best left unsaid.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 11:21 AM | link to this | reply

Can I quote you, mademoiselle, about how "specificity is antithetical to
comedy"?  Or did you hear that somewhere?

You really should tell us your grandpa's secret, you know....I wish there
were an emoticon of a guy tapping his foot disgustedly....

I'm kinda scared to know, but was Grandpa's little secret
In your comments, on my sketch art, you provided a little fiction yourelf, and I wanted to thank you for the entertainment. We all feel important enough at times to think we're being watched through our windows, hell, theres even voyerism right here in blogging. Anyway, I wrote this here because I didn't know if you'd return to my blog. Hope you don't mind.  Anyway, what was grandpa's secret? You've got me curious.

Whatever for, Corbin?

Quite frankly, I hardly see why that would be necessary.

Oh, you must mean because of all the unanswered questions and unresolved issues this post creates.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 5:42 AM | link to this | reply

Are you going to do a followup?

posted by Corbin_Dallas on August 8, 2006 at 5:34 AM | link to this | reply

Yes, Steeler fan, deep down inside I'm really quite warm. Plus, kinda gooey.

I was extremely flu-ridden when I wrote the "spider" post, Jack, and when my mother read it, she immediately told the doctor to decrease my dosage.

One can only imagine how she'll feel about this one.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 4:56 AM | link to this | reply

Not quite, Mason ... the secret is something far less cinematic, and yet, a tad more sinister.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 4:53 AM | link to this | reply

I'm still hoping you'll reconsider that part, Bandana.

posted by Mademoiselle on August 8, 2006 at 4:52 AM | link to this | reply

Mademoiselle,
I liked this post.  I haven't figured out exactly why, but maybe if I think about it some more I will.  It related to the linked one somehow.  Maybe I'll figure that out too.  It will be the end of the week before I have time to think about anything that doesn't involve cussing and throwing things.

We should

have a joint account. You can answer most the comments, and on rare occations, I can answer some.

But, too late because well, you know. Anyway, I'm outtie for the night. Good night.

See now, generally, I don't care for it when others respond to comments left in my blog ...

But when you do it, it's cute.

Well, actually, markng, we have plenty of positive family attributes as well.

I just never talk about those ... for some reason.

Tied up, a secluded place and a secret

You've some rich family traditions and cultures in there, though not the type that induces envy, unfortunately.

Hmm... I also have a war hero in my family.  I am sure of which war it is but can't remember who it was.  You know the hero keeps changing... that kind of thing.
