I'm glad you like reading my stuff, jacenta. As for my 'talent?' I wish I could figure out how to make money from it.

The objective of writing is to communicate and you certainly do it well. I enjoy reading your work and you always influence me to smile. I envy your talent.

Which brings up another point, Blanche. Not that I want to pry - he says, lying in his teeth - but have you sent anything off to a publisher or editor? and if not why not?

Exactly, JohnMcnab, if humor is your bent and it sells, then go with it!

Like you, Blanche, I've discovered that fiction is not my thing....mmm...I'll rephrase that...it could be my thing but I don't put any effort into it because it is so easy and natural for me two write in my brand of humour. It only dawned on me lately that nothing serious I have ever written has been published. All the material I've had published has been humorous. So why fight it?

JohnMcnab, well, the old chestnut comes to mind, "You get out of a class
or whatever what you put into it". I came in with a different aim, also to make my writing more fluid, but to explore what my real writing is about, and I've done that: I thought I'd like to write fiction, and now I discover that I don't reeally want to write fiction so much as essays. There's a potential market for that
However, you're right. The comments section is somewhat different and distinct than the posts, although some schmoozing is essential to stay afloat and get read.

I joined Blogit to write and I have done. My writing has become better and more fluid, and I can now see an article in every little thing I see or do. Other than that, I can't see any other potential? We are unlikely to be discovered by writing on Blogit alone.

JohnMcnab, Optimism is good, I'm all in favor of it!
I'm so glad to see you still here. You know, all fun and games aside, there is potential here.

John ... I really enjoyed this except that you called yourself a moron, we both know better than that! Your description of the sunset was so clear that I could picture the beauty from here. Thanks for sharing your Tuesday, I have two of my grand-daughters until tomorrow 10 & 12 and they know everything except how to be quiet,

Take it as a laconic Scotsman's compliment, Blanche. As for Blogit, I like it a lot. Lately I have been lethargic - as well as laconic and pessimistic. Today I feel optimistic.

JohnMcnab, well, after your lavish praise of my photo, which I attributed
to your Scottish upbringing and sparse way with words (although I wasn't sure what to make of it), I'd say Ell may be a woman of few words as well.
Anyway, sorry to hear about your discomfort in other regions. That's never good. You may have to blog standing up. Well, it's August 12 and you're still here, so I'm hoping for the best Now that Ginnieb and MedusaNextDoor have bowed out and Lensman's never around much, the blog has lost a certain something. Yes, more about the pool.

I hadn't thought of Ell's laconic 'Quite Good' as being praise, Blanche, but you could be right. Are you sure I'm still on Blogit? I haven't checked my credit card lately, but that will be because I can't open my online bank account for some odd reason. I'm getting fed up with the cock-ups and Ell is becoming furious.
As for the purchase of the shorts, the bargain isn't as good as we thought. The shorts may show off my butt, but they are extremely uncomfortable in the....er....forward regions, especially when I try to sit down.
I was hoping you'd forgotten about the pool - ah well, perhaps I should get down to it - if I could sit down, that is

JohnMcNab, August 11, has come and gone, and you're still here!
Wonder of wonders, I was afraid that was another atrociity we'd have to chalk up to numerology, the disappearance of John into the cybervoid.
Yes, getting props from your Better Half is a glorious achievement, isn't it? It sounds like Ell doles out praise laconoically, so "quite good" from her, probably equals pages of lavish and fawning adoration from strangers.
LOL, at the underwear comment, still gettng a few props from strangers makes the day, too, doesn't it? Now, about the 4 cleaning of the pool posts.
