I wish the other side would cave in
I've long ago caved in, but sometimes people are too caught up in their own circumstances, pain, comfort zone, upbringing, experiences etc. to be able to let go of the known. So caving in is an impossible feat of bravery.

Agreed but at what point one gives up and where does one give in
is the million dollar question

all too often we see one side caving in...
and I wonder if it's less actually conceding a point to the other side than it is a loss of the will to fight. I don't know how many times I've turned my back on an argument not because I've been converted, but because fighting over an issue doesn't interest me.

Well, sometimes it's best to leave some people alone and leave the distance between each other wouldn't you think?

welcome to my world ! Don't you know that I start all the arguments in my house? The solution is very simple; I just have to keep quiet and do everything his way. Trouble only starts when I don't feel like it :)

Azur, giving in completely breeds resentment in the person who gives in, but it can take a long time for both sides to see sense - if ever.

Perhaps it is my personality. I have seen a different light by listening to another's argument more than once. I believe it is whether it is more important to be right than to find truth. Why do we have trial lawyers if not to sway a jury by argument? Be blessed.

Azur, How many times have you changed someone's opinion by arguing with them? It just doesn't happen.

I never concern myself with "shifting the opinions" of others ...
In fact, I actually prefer that they remain "all stupid".

Some people are flexible, while others hold onto grudges.
