Whacky, I'm still experimenting, but I know what you mean about Starbucks
I'm not that fussy, but even I can tell it's burnt. I just found a place up the street, a new espresso cafe, that opened up that sells a brand called Zoca. I'd never tried, it, but even the drip tastes better than most espresso! It's good.
The other place, that I've been going to less has a brand called Lighthouse, which is okay, but not great. I try to buy some to have at home, and I buy the Safeway house brand, of medium roast, and make a french press. I guess when I'm buying the beans, I'm only willing to pay $6.98 a pound, but when I'm buying it by the cup, I'm willing to pay more. Go figure!

I don't drink coffee much anymore, but I used to like the gourmet brands they had at Wal-Mart.

I spelled it with the dash over the first N and when I posted it that N and the dash was gone! Sorry.

I tried some of that (isn't it called 'pinon' coffee? and I didn't like it! If you want what is left of the pound I bought, I will mail it to you!
I do love coffee though- it's just that the particular taste of that kind didn't agree with me...

Great Post....I love coffee too.
This sounds just wonderful - thanks for recommending it.
While working in New Orleans, I found the Cafe DuMonde. Their coffee is world famous. It has a bit of chicory in it.
