Hi Jemmie,
I just have to say that the little kitty was very lucky to have been found by you and have experienced so much love and tender care in his brief life while he was here. If it were me I would be glad he didn't die alone, cold and abandoned and thankful to have been able to make the difference for him, however brief it was. Condolences on your loss and heartache.

I'm so sorry. I know it's heartbreaking, but please know that it wasn't your fault. As I said, I know from my training in fostering that in situations such as this, their survival is iffy at best.
May he rest in peace and feel blessed that he was loved for such a short time.
