Cute story. I've seen birds pecking into water at the fountain. None shower there.

Thanks to my cats,
I don't get to enjoy bird interactions.  Once, I was attacked by a bird, but that's no fun.  Take care

I don't keep a bird bath anymore because of the problem
with misquitos and west nile.

Whacky, I really enjoyed this post.  It must be because I like birds or just because you made it fun to picture this.

Whacky
I have two, but unfortunately I haven't seen any showers yet. I used to see them all the time at Mom's house. It is quite entertaining.

i've lived in one home here in vancouver where i was able to provide a
birdbath.  it was not only used extensively by birds for swimming but the crows used it to wash their food and the local dogs and cats used it for drinking, the dogs would rest their forepaws on the edge, the cats would straddle.   loved your line about the mommy bird chirping at the kid to get out of the pool!

Some little birdies came up on my porch but I captured them and fried them up for dinner...yummy!

Must be something to do with
salt and chemicals but the birds stay away from our pool (we got this house when we used to make an income). There are dozens of birds out front in the trees all the time.
