Ginnie, it makes absolutely no sense at all
We are careful about what my son watches. That's the best rating system but still it doesn't make any sense.

Pat, I agree with that one as well
Why are legal activities banned from movies but illegal ones perfectly okay. Same with TV. Can't show a nude butt without outrage but it's okay to kill thousands of people every day.

M, I don't know about the drug thing.
I thought some of the stupid movies that were PG showed drugs but I don't watch movies anymore so I can't tell you.

The mystery to me has always been
why they can show war and violence, blood and gore, but not the act of love. Seems twisted to me.

Roger Ebert has often noted the hypocrisy of the ratings system ...
However, I believe drug use usually does guarantee an R (or higher), actually ... which, ultimately, lead to one of the MPAA's most asinine decisions ever: giving an R to Whale Rider.
