There is one thing you and I both agree on 100%:

I have a wonderful mind!

Kidding kidding!

We both agree that there have been injustices (too many to count) in this world.  And I do agree that there are, have been, and probably will continue to be injustices done by Hussein and/or his factions.  I know that the horrors he and his family and followers have bestowed upon the Iraqi people have been many and heinous.  Yes, he did (and does) need to be stopped.  But I do not believe that it is up to us to stop him by any means necessary (i.e. killing him and his family and followers).

I will never believe that he has been justified in what he has done to his people, but I will also never believe that it is our (that is, America's) obligation to stop him--especially by waging war against his entire country--including those very people who also want to see him toppled!

I shudder to think how many innocents were killed in our actions against Iraq.  And how many of those innocents were against his regime as are we?  It is just frightening.

I thank you, Gentle-Willow, for your contribution.  You have helped me to see past my own feelings of injustice to the bigger picture.

Who is ever "proud" of the government.

To address one issue though, yes, the Al Queda did sponsor the attack on America but they are hidden and sponsored by others.  Now, I'm not privvy to documents or intelligience that proves it but I would be highly surprised given the wealth of Hussien if he did not contribute to the Al Queda after all he hated us, too and wouldn't hesitate to use any means to get at us.

On the other hand, I know the peoples of Iraq really fear and hate us.  Take a moment.  The stories of torture and inhumanity that leak from Iraq are appalling.  Is this not what happened in Germany?  Do you really believe these people that I'm typing about, the majority, lived peacefully and happily?  Not!

It's a tough call and one I don't think OUR nation was ready to deal with.  The dictator did need to be stopped, WOMD or not.

The preface used was unworthy but those people needed to be freed.

I regret that it was done for political purposes.

An ugly situation that has resulted in a lot of factions adherring as a common front against us.

OT. . .

I don't know you, but you have an admirable mind and I really enjoyed reading and debating with you.

Hugs from me and prayers for the world,

Willow

Gentle-Willow

I agree with you.

And I agree that there is no future in the past.

But can we really look at what America is doing today and say that it, as a whole, has really changed?  Not only did America attack Iraq (an action I did not support in the LEAST--though I did support the troops who were doing their jobs), but they killed many innocents.  They attacked Iraq out of revenge, when it wasn't Iraq who flew plans into our WTC and the Pentagon, but the Al Quaida.  All those lives lost, both American and Iraqi--for what?

And now American is looking at attacking Korea for the actions of just a small part of that country? C'mon!

Now don't get me wrong, I really am proud to be an American.  I am just not always proud of what America and Americans do--especially to anyone who happens to be non-American.

I have read your blogs and not commented before.  You are very talented and informed.  The way America evolved sucked and that is a fact.  I am American and yes I knew you people were in danger and yes I did pray for you.  You could not have known that.

Now, America was conquered by an organized, highly intelligent and "civilized'?  culture.

I know you know what this means, or at least I hope you do.  I am American Indian,  Cherokee and Comanche.  Someday I may blog about this.  I did once before and the Cherokee Nation came down on my head.  I deleted the blog.

Would you like details on how my forefathers' lands were confiscated.?  No, I thought not.

Was any of it moral or right?  I think not.

Is it a fact?  Yes.

I wish you and yours well.  Be happy you are who you are and relish your heritage.  Live for today. Don't live in the past.  There is no "future" in the "past".

Love and prayers

The Willow

Hawaiians weren't treated as slaves, however, America held the Hawaiian queen hostage until she agreed to give up her crown and allow the US to take over Hawaii.  While she was in US custody, she was treated horribly.  And it was all done in the name of turning the "heathens" of Hawaii into "good" Americans.

If what America did to Hawaii is "good," then I obviously don't know what evil is.

interesting
America is built on slavery (many different levels beyond the obvious). But not many people like talking about that either now do they?
