We most definitely should celebrate our similarities. It’s the basics of being “human” that can fuel compassion and understanding. If we look at another as though we’re looking in a mirror we’re more likely to see glimpses of their pain or joy. If we look at or greet another as if they are our potential enemy, we are blinded. Strong and thought provoking post.

Schatz,I've met a lot of conflicted Catholics, so I can guess where your
husband is coming from. Myself, I converted 3 years ago, but I wouldn't exactly call myself "born again" anything other than to a belief in the actual spirit of Christ. I havn't bound a church I can embrace, or whose teachings aren't more what I would call "Pauline"(as in, teaching of Paul), rather than Christian.
From what I've seen, most of the literal quotatons about the submissiveness of women, deferring to men, covering of heads in church, etc. were taken from Paul's letters. So, yes, the structure and organization of the church as it is practiced is patiarchal, which always turned me off, too.
I have the same kind of relationship with my own boyfriend: we argue, we discuss, but he, who's agnostic/Jewish, is far too rational and fair-minded to try to impose his will on me either. We work things out by reasonable discussion.
I don't know all the answers, I don't even see the original "Fall from Grace" in the Garden of "Eden as more than a symbolic myth, that has been taken far too literally. Eve may have offered the apple to Adam, but he took the bite.

Thank you, Schatz, for the Kudos...
You took a daring gutsy leap. Nice and strong. And you landed! Perhaps you are familiar with Raven Grimassi? In my opinion, for what it is worth, you can say anything you want here. I do so in my daily life, although when it comes to opinions I usually sit back and observe before I express myself. Delivery carries a lot of weight and some people just aren't ready for the truth.
Very nice meeting you!

Thanks. You're cool Maven. Writing this blog may get me into trouble, but
I believe it to all be true, and I feel I have the right to speak my mind. As one blogger said recently, 'I pay my dime around here, just like everyone else.' LOL I appreciate the support.

Good Evening, Schatz
The silent power of a woman is extremely frightening to a man. For that reason man must control or destroy.
Wonderful post.
