It's tough to wave good-bye
But we hope we've equipped our children with the tools, the integrity, and the wisdom to find their way. And we DO also hope they always reach out to us in a time of need.

This one brought a tear to my eye....
...because I know exactly that feeling! The worst is the first time no children are left living at home, even if you have a husband or partner around it is not the same thing.  (Not that I measure them against each other, it is just different.) You read things about how women feel this emptyness when the family have all flown the nest but you think you will be too busy with other things to notice. Then you find out that you know what they were talking about. Meanwhile the youngsters with the whole world waiting out there probably don't understand until they are much older. But who can blame them.. I remember being the same when I was young. My sister once wrote a lovely poem about visiting her boys and their partners and a grandchild, who lived in Brighton. In the poem she is coming home in the evening on the train back to London alone. It is a sad and beautiful poem.  I hope I can write like she used to some day.. I would like to send it but since the old computer crashed I have to put back on this one lots of documents I could once access and send with ease. But I will send it later as I think you would love it.
