I have a phone with a different ring tone. Anyhow, I like to keep my tv volume down. : )

I once had a new mobile phone
and it took weeks for me to learn that it was my phone. I would sometimes ask who's phone was ringing whenit was mine. The only false alarm I have currently is that the windchimes outside the house sound like the doorbell. I will go see who is at the door and there is nobody there. Thanks for sharing this post. I can imagine that one would associate a ring tone to an unfortunate situation. I think your anxiety, care and love must have brought this on.

Hi there,
I think you're right about the Pavlov dog thing. I have an unusual ringtone but I usually answer the phone at home using the standard corporate greeting and usually dial 0 to get an outside line. Humans are creatures of habit.

you know, after reading your post
it made me wonder how many of the tv shows are just spin-offs from each other and who created it first!

we get deal or no deal here - australian version and i never thought of it being showed anywhere else.

and, no for the record I don't jump for the phone but I have my mobile phone set to a whistling ring and our home phone to something else that doesn't sound like a traditional ring! I used to get caught out with Australian drama shows when the phone rang in the background!

the banker on that show is annoying. I wish they'd just get on with it.

Whacky

Well you know I have phones issues. So yes, I can totally relate to your situation! I love being able to turn the ringer off. Problem is I forget I turn the ringer off. Then when I turn it on it blasts my ears. I can't put it in the micro cause the kids said if I cook another phone I can't have another one. It's a no win situation...

You think they will ever come up with a silent door bell ringer? Now that would be NICE!!!
