The world really is a screwed-up place sometimes isn't it.
If I let myself I can get really bugged out about stuff like this.There is so much suffering in the world and sensless violence. You have to put it aside sometimes b/c otherwise it can really mess with your head. Take Care.

Would it? I'm not sure that understanding something like this would be a good thing.

In all seriousness
the young girl you mention had more integrity and honor, more moxie, than anyone I could ever imagine, especially at such a young age. When I was 12, as I read yesterday she was, I was in between playing with Barbie dolls and going boy-crazy. Her strength and fortitude to shield and protect is most honorable and admirable.
Taken from Merriam-Webster's;
Main Entry: mox·ie
Pronunciation: 'mäk-sE
Function: noun
Etymology: from Moxie, a trademark for a soft drink
1 : ENERGY, PEP
2 : COURAGE, DETERMINATION
3 : KNOW-HOW, EXPERTISE
