Hi y'all
(Does anyone read the comments after this long has gone by? I dunno.) Thanks for your supportive comments. I risk alienating people from time to time, but I think no-one should compromise their honest views or style to please others - not unless there's money in it, of course! if they were paying me millions to write something I didn't enjoy myself, I'd probably - no, definitely - agree to do it!!

Hi Tony
Hope you and yours are well. Truth as been nailed to the walls of your readers minds, with this well crafted natural flow of verse, from a free and honest heart. I agree and enjoyed your poem, powerful. Well wrote sir. Mike

A lovely satirical sonnet, this? Caricature of politicians and countries as well? Beautifully done, truly enjoyable.

Good points, Tony
and I wish it weren't so late over here so I had enough energy to make a sensible comment. You do have a say in the leader, you simply accept that the party you vote for has a certain (charismatic or otherwise) leader. If you lived in Oz (as I'm sure everyone knows by now) you would be fined and possibly jailed for not voting. Some democracy. Apart from the odd grumble, I tend to stay clear of politics, perhaps it is shame on me but my life is complicated enough.

Little bit of politics, eh? (As Ben Elton was wont to say.)

Tonyzonit, This sonnet reminds me more of a compilation of signs being carried by protestors.

Tony, you are a brave man...
If you are in any danger, come hide around here...(I tend to be with you on this one, but I don't have all the clever words and knowledge to back up my arguments.) The French don't want a bar of Bush's policy not that the French are blameless of course. I think they go about things in a more subtle and perhaps devious way. Who knows? They have nuked our little corner of paradise, and I had to duck the snipy comments when the Rainbow Warrior affair erupted in 84, I kept apologizing for something I did not do...It is a free country or so they say. Let us see if Americans live up to their word, they are great at wanting to free the world so let us test their tolerance level... Watch this space. Luckily it is just a website, so no need to worry right?

Upsetting Your Audience
Looks like you've gone off message Tony. Some don't like uncomfortable truths. For me? Just the ticket.
Cheers Neil

Hi Najwa
Don't worry. I talk about so many different things, one day it's about having no milk, the next about politics! Who knows what it'll be about tomorrow? I'll be winging my way over to your site after I've made a hot drink!!

Well I haven't insulted him personally...
...That I'm saving for the future!! I'm really lamenting the terrible money-driven foreign policy disasters of USA and UK. So it's not anti-American either - unless I'm also being anti-British... Anyway, popular or not, these observations have sometimes gotta be made... Right, at last I am free to browse. Here goes...
