tony! don't be so cheeky or he'll kick your butt.
I'll tell him where to find you...someone has to stand up to the poor guy!

Is this a self-portrait, Mike??
You really need to change your diet, you know. Whether it is or not, it is a captivating and somewhat allegorical piece that has a sound basis to it. Cheers, Tony.

Lion, now that I have switched on the light... I think it is very funny.
black comedy is good word, (who said that?) sorry I did not get it at first, but now I see, lucky me. Like Taps, I laughed when I read
"burped your bum", I get the picture, thankfully not the smell.
I picture the scene fully now, it finally makes sense, you have such a way of presenting dark themes in such a light hearted way...Whacky, quirky, makes me squirm, laugh cry all at the same time...I want to kick the dad's ass into gear, out of his grotty armchair...He won't grow wings in a hurry, horns more likely. the angel description is priceless, funny...

lionladroar, I'm afraid that's a new one one me, "burped his bum", though I definitely get the picture.  LOL   Whether angel or alien, I think it just might be time to straighten up and fly right.

Lion, enjoyment is not the word I would use....
the description of the father made me puke...excuse my French.

Lion...
You mention pride... we all have it and you are not alone in this. We do need pride as self-respect but not misplaced pride. I hate to admit I am not sure about the message in your poem, is this a slob of a father getting a warning to buckle up before it is too late? Forgive me if I got it wrong...

what a way to describe the dad!
You made him look revolting. Who is the angel representing?
