KidnyKid, et al
I am fine. Was scared out of my mind yesterday, but we're good.
You're right, KidnyKid, we didn't know what the heck was going on. During the rare times when I was able to use my cell phone, I called family on the mainland to get them to turn on the news just so I could find out what was happening.
Radio stations here we out. No power, so no tv or computer. It was quite frightening.
Even today there are lots of people without power, and tons of traffic lights around the island aren't working.
But we're healthy and unhurt, which is what matters. I heard that the worst injury during all this was a broken arm. No fatalities, thank goodness!

Often, in a disaster like this, the last people to be "in the know" are the people who are actively in the thick of things, and Jemmie is apparently right in the thick of things there on Oahu. She is probably more clueless than those of us with access to sources of information like CNN and other network news programs. I do hope she's all right.

Jemmie's on Oahu, thankfully
Jemmie lives on Oahu, not the Big Island so the effect of the earthquake is still strong but not as strong as on the Big Island. From what I can see, Oahu is without power completely (I can't reach her via cell phone). I don't think there is a huge amount of property damage but it's raining like crazy and there is a flood warning.
It's tough to know exactly what's happening, I'm praying that everything is ok.
