Wow, big change
We get just enough snowfall here to appreciate and enjoy the beauty, but not enough to become weary of it. I would love to see the expressions on your cat's faces the first time they are out in winter wonder - bet they will be amazed and delighted. Enjoy Julia!

I am in NJ but I am still missing the snow...
The weather has been so mild these past winters. We get one or two snowstorms and it doesn't last very long on the ground. I kinda miss Ithaca where it snowed a little almost every day via lake effect snow. Of course, I did not have many responsibilities back then...
Why can't you post pictures? No digital camera?

as much as i miss the east coast, i know the reality of the winter and i'm
too spoiled on the west coast warm. i'll live on the east coast the day i have so much money, i don't have to shovel my driveway myself. i'll want to just sit in front of the roaring fire, watch those lazy falling flakes that mesmerized you so, and write. or not! lol
happily, the falling flakes never lose their magic. the shoveling even has it's good points. it's that knee-deep springtime slush that i definitely don't miss.

Julia,
I can see your next headline. "Mauled by three cats". I remember the first time I took Purr outside in the snow. She climbed my leg and howled. LOL Shadow

Bundle up and keep yourself warm when you take the kitties out!
I'm picturing Rocky picking up his paws and trying to figure out what's happening. Then he sees a rodent of some type and forgets entirely about the cold snow in his newfound "friend."

I'm sure the kitties will have a great time! As for me, I like the snow...
I just don't enjoy driving in it!

My dogs love deep snow. They root their noses in it and run around, digging a trench. I almost split my sides the first time I saw them do it. Our Golden Retriever lays on his side and wriggles down the hill like so many sleds. It lightens my mood and helps me cope with cleaning off the driveway.

Shhhhh - don't tell Julia I'm wearing only a T Shirt today. I do miss the snow sometimes (having lived in the east for many years). There's something magical about the first snow fall.

We get enough of it here in Ohio. Julia, the cats would be cute to see, but I'm not excited about your snow. I don't know where you are, but the snow will be here next probably. haha Today we are getting rain, lots of it. It's cold and our heat is out. It's been out for the third day now - whoops, hubby just said it's fixed. YAH! I'm so happy!
Enjoy your snow!

Julia...
Blanche is correct, I live in Olympia and it is the same thing here. It's funny though, when I was a kid we used to get a ton of snow here, now...not so much. I love snow though, whenever I hear about it snowing somewhere else it makes me jealous.

If Seattle gefs so much as an inch of snow, Julia, the buses shut down
kids get the day off and people go toboganning down Queen Anne Hill, it's a pain and a holiday.

Julia.
When we lived in the apartment, one of our cats loved to go outside on the back balcony. Whenever we were in the kitchen, she'd stand by the door, meowing, demanding we let her out. Open the door just a crack and she'd find a way to bolt through. One winter evening it snowed. Queen V and I stood in the kitchen and the cat did her normal routine. I opened the door and she made a break for it, onto the snow-covered balcony. Almost immediately, she bolted back inside, retreating to the carpeted living room floor. She looked at me, her expression asking, "How in the hell did you do
that?" From that day forward, she would carefully peek at the ground before going out.
