Tonyzonit, I love your inspirational descriptions. Always great to see a bit of history or geography or cultural oddities in the form of sonnets.

tony, what a lovely place you went to?
Did you get a glimpse of the lady?... on her horse if I recall, and no clothes so I was told. Times change and we do do too, some are good some not so good. when I went back to France, I saw many good changes, I probably missed the hardship it took to get there. Most manufacturing is done in Asia now, it has become invitable, NZ not being a manufacturing country, we import most things anyway, so it does not affect us so much. It hurt us badly in the 80's and we have survived the competition. The trick is to outsmart the cheap countries with our expertise and know how, we are the brain, they are the hands... oooops it sounds so racist to say that, but anyway they are pretty smart too. China is a huge market to tap into, and we can go sell them stuff too. NZ can feed hungry markets with our lovely produce, whereas you cannot do do that so much. I always believe there is a way to overcome problems, with a little lateral thinking.

Tony I wanted to say, I love sonnets, but my foreign ears can't do scansion
right. I do pronounce my words differently ( a confusion of American and British accents) so that the unaccented syllables get streesed more times than not. So I reduced the stress on those lovely syllables, by doing fewer sonnets. (A lotus for you, but the copyright may fly it away. So enjoy quickly):

Agreed. Thanks for initiating camaraderie my friend. Born in South Africa
and yet of Indian ancestry, I find it hard not to cling to Britain...England especially and the poets. But Wales has a pull...other Celtic attractions from the Highlands. I agree with your points; too much globalisation, if u ask me. This is ofr commerce mainly; we lose so much of the traditional best in places like Bangladesh and Botswana, Namibia and Nepal, Korea and Kansas...as we try to be the same, everywhere. So we break the eggs to make omelette, they say. We could give up eggs, couldn't we? Shalom, Neil.

Sorry to hear that. Everyone in manufacturing is at risk. It makes you wonder what the future holds.

...yes... it's everywhere.. I'm looking for a job now at the age of 62...
last March the plant where I worked for 27 years sold out... they couldn't keep up because they would spend the money to update and trsain... and now I find myself a journyman of obsolete equipment... odd, life is....

It is a huge challange to weave history and social events into my poetry, yet you do it so very easily. Well done. I too procrastinate. I ran the Chicago marathon back in '03. By the time I got to the starting line nearly all 30,000 participants had laready begun the race!
Be well,

The 'old' localised way of living/working-no longer applies.
Sad-in many ways-but that's progress I guess?
