I know it's deafening and when will commerce end and homeliness at feasts
begin?

Tony
In India there are so many festivals, each for different communities, that the glare and the blare that you have to suffer maybe two months in advance, we have to go through almost six months in a year. Lucky, that way, you people, i guess.

Spare a thought for the victims of the voucher scam

Thousands of people have been ripped off again this year. They save on a monthly basis so that they will be able to provide a decent christmas for their kids. Once again this year, as last, another company has waited until the final monthly payment has been collected before declaring themselves bankrupt. The directors of this company are probably sunning themselves on some distant beach while the poor bastards that they have ripped off are piling up debt on their credit cards to keep the dream alive for their kids and grand kids.

Tony sorry I've not responded to your recent comments, I've been away for a few days.

Cheers

Neil

Thanks Najwa, Marie-Claire and TAPS!
Yes, I think Christmas has lost the magic it had when we are kids, because we realise the pressure put on us by commercialisation. I thought I'd be in there first to talk about it. I'll probably return to the theme later. How can we resist?

Tonyzonit, I must admit, I love Christmas in my heart but without the commercialization, without the parties, without the exchange of gifts, without going in debt, without the shopping.  To me it should be a holy and personal observance with closest of family and anyone else who would desire to be included.  I feel that the giving of gifts should be to those who are homeless or hungry, sick or needy to lift them up and bring them cheer and should not be limited to food at Thanksgiving and gifts at Christmas.

Christmas Carols??? a bit premature I would have thought.
Christmas hijacked by greed, we call it the silly season here as people get all aggravated with shopping. It's silly alright, that is not what Christmas shoud be all about. I do love Xmas in the summer time, much more fun.
