Pat, some of the implications went beyond hard-sell marketing
This wasn't evangelism buried among the digestive-aid and other ads. This was talking to everyone at all times about nothing but Jesus, practically forcing them to convert under the guise of both obeying the Great Commission (where we're called to evangelize) and caring for them (not wanting them to go to Hell).

The funny thing is, babe...
Billy Graham has been taking heat in some circles for compromising.

I have been proselytized by one particular group for over two years, mostly because I am too polite (or maybe I lack backbone) to tell them they are wasting their time.  I am open minded because I have been exposed to so many philosophies:  agnosticism, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Campbellite theology, Christian Science...the list goes on and on.  I suspect that their friendship comes to an end when one is no longer regarded as a prospect.  The altar call reminds me of Billy Graham.

It's one thing if you go to a church and they welcome you
into the fellowship. Quite another if it is staged so you feel really weird about it if you don't go forward. Which is not outside the realm of probability. It goes from evangelism to hard sell marketing when it gets on TV as a 15-second spot among the commercials for weight loss pills or new cars or the newest digestive aid.  :)
