Michael J. Fox had the patient of a saint, Saul, compared to how I would
have felt and probably responded to all this asinine smoke-blowing. I love Al Franken's take on the Republican spin machine, "They take a big, hairy dump, then throw a lot of dirt in the air and yell, "don't look at that big hairy dump, look at the dirt." Perfect, I couldn't have said it better. A little less crudely, but sometimes you have to make a point. It is so beyond OLD.

I'm with you on this, Blanche. Personally, if Fox tweaked his Parkinson's
a bit or allowed the Parkinson's to run uncontrolled, the more the better. Sadly, as he states, he has to be medicated now just to speak.

Saul Relative, here's a few celebrity fake ads: "FDR fakes polio to get
sympathy and pass the New Deal!" "Ray Charles not really blind..(Have you ever seen him with a cane?). "Christopher Reeves fakes own death for publicity".
Look at the core, what is a thing in and of itself, as Marcus Aurelius says, Michael J. Fox still has Parkinson's, I'm sure he wishes he didn't, doesn't matter whether he used it to promote a cause or not.

saul_relative, This is all a great example of both Limbaugh and M.J.Fox both being themselves. Fox showed his class and Limbaugh his crass.

The sad fact of the matter is, though, ladychardonnay, that millions still
listen to this buffoon as if he's orating the next book of the New Testament. The good thing about Limbaugh (yes, the good thing) is that he's exactly the example you can show and have your children listen to as an object lesson on what not to do or say.

Very good point, Moxie. Some of us rise above. Fox is one of the risers.

Right you are, CeeMarie. Advancing a cause for the good of humanity is a
privilege and a duty. If you have the ability and the talent and the opportunity, you should advance a good cause to the best of your ability. For others to deny you are dismiss you or condemn you is to their shame. Fox's calmness is a show of class.

On the bright side of the situation, Limbaugh inadvertantly showed us the
extreme differences between his nasty negative bully type personality, and the sincere positive and optimistic personality of Michael J Fox, who is taking the entire lemon orchard he's been handed and turning it into a giant lemonade factory.

someone who speaks my language-
Your blog was a breath of fresh air; I was so surprised how calm Fox appeared over Rush's comments -- said he expected some flack. I was furious and still am! He is SO hypocritical, but that's what he's being paid to be. Fox also said he found it curious that celebrities cast such aspersions upon other celebrities, who have very comfortable lives because of their celebrity status. However, he pointed out celebrity status didn't mean they can't advance a cause like any other citizen.
