at one point, I took a half hour out of every day to focus on gratitude.
It certainly doesn't hurt and it def. improves your mental state. I wouldn't recommend focusing any attention on the negative though; that seems counter-productive to me.

Thank you, AbsolutelyPositive, I've been doing something similar in my
journal blog and in my paper blog, which I take with me to coffee every day, but I like the format of this, and I'll copy this. Good post.

I used to keep a Gratitude Book on my coffee table
(an Oprah thing, I think). At the end of each day I would write down 5 things for which I was grateful. Some days it may have been very basic things - like the sun came up. On other occassions it may have included expressions of gratitude for something my husband did. He also made a similar entry but at a different time of day. It was very telling and heart warming to read one another's entries. Ahhh yes.... gratitude. It's a wonderful thing.
