My wife and I have talked about making charitable donations
when we get where we're going. It's the right thing to do.

And given enough time - and a wise investment pattern offering a good return - you can even have enough money on hand to buy major durable goods (like that car). Saving for its own sake can be summed up in one word: greed. Beyond the meeting of basic needs (like food and shelter), we can have too much money - it's got to be used for something, even if you donate a percentage to the less fortunate.
