Whacky, that is one way of looking at; however, remember
as the wind blows the leaves out of your yard, it blows them into someone else's yard!

Absolutely, Yes, it is difficult to look beyond the present; however,
the act of review must always lead us beyond today to a preparation for tomorrow!

Every ending brings a new beginning
I can identify with your poem as I always review the year when it ends. I find it more difficult to look ahead.
