I believe many Republicans did cross over because of the war. I also believe many Republicans did not vote.

I think there are Democrats that are trying to adopt a more centered position. They know by being too far left they lose. Just look how fast they sent John Kerry packing after his blunder.

More over I believe the case of the Democratic senator who still has 90K in cold cash in the lasagna will become a spot light within the next year or so. That scandal will hurt their party big time. And then there is the Murtha factor. The tape of him the FBI has on file will be sure to come to life because he just didn't say 'No" he said he would get back to them.

Last I believe the next President will be McCain or Rudy. Their leadership has already been demonstrated. Now you tell me, does the Dem's have anyone who even resembles either of those? No they don't, in fact they don't have a candidate period.

Also remember even if the Dems have the house and senate, the President is the one with the only pen in DC that counts....

Blanche, All due respect. The unions got wages out of the gutter, then
struck every chance they could for 35.00 per hour.  My uncle was an original USWA (United Steel Workers) organizer in Chicago.  Before his death in 1985, he told me "the unions killed the goose that laid the golden egg."

Note to Writeroflight, now that the right has made "liberal" a swear word

(hey, why not just call me the b word, why dontcha?), most are turning to Progressive.  Myself, I think I'll stick with Liberal, and all the good things that they have done for this country over the last 50-100 years, which we as a country have benefitted from:

Union wages, a fair wage for a fair day's work
Child labor laws, so that 12 year olds and under are not slaving in factories
40 hour work weeks
L & I, workmen's compensation for injuries on the job
regulations of all major safety issues, from air travel to mine safety.  Isn't it ironic that the miner's who died last year could have been saved if the owners of the mine had actually fixed the problem instead of paid the two-bit fine that was not worth those men's lives.

The blatant disregard of life, and property of those in power who call themselves the Right, is disingenous and disgusting to me.  They simply do not care for the welfare of the average American, to wit, Katrina rescue.

FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD AND SEEN

NO,

NO,

AND

NO.

Sensible minds just might prevail for once though.

Kingmi

As far as question one, I think many Republicans crossed over in the recent election as a protest of the war.

Question 2-even though I oppose the war we can’t just leave all at once but it has to be a phased withdrawal over the next 12 to 18 months.

As far as #3 I am looking at my favorites Rudy G and John McCain.
