Ben, that's the thing
You could literally buy 2 to 3 houses for what we pay for one. If they can't pay cash, they need to pay it off as quickly as possible and not except the 30 year plan.

I think we have to revamp our thinking as a society, to get back to thinking in terms of paying cash for literally everything (including that house). Think of the money one could earn investing what one sinks into a mortgage or car payment.
