The chicken I was wearing on my head when I read your piece fell off because I was laughing so hard! Landing on the floor, the poor chick looked up at me and asked me to tell you to give your duck a hug before it melts.

Nautikos, you are such a multifaceted writer. I admit to being impressed
whenever I read your political posts/comments (which is often); they are obviously well researched, and always so well written that I think even an
uninterested, uninformed reader can easily understand the "politics" being addressed. I read all of your posts in "Naut's View" to Max who is really interested in politics, and who throughly enjoys hearing what you have to say. I am not a political buff at all; your posts are so interesting, however, that I read every Naut's View posted!
I never know what you'll address in "Naut's Thoughts", but I know I'll enjoy the read immensely...like this one! I laughed right out loud when I visualized YOU walking around with a wax duck on your head! I hope you will let your humor shine through more often... you are really good at telling a funny story! I really enjoyed reading this piece! More, more...

Well, you did ask for my opinion, Nautikos, on your other blog
I try to keep silent when I disagree these days unless it's a matter I feel strongly enough to prepare a cogent, reasoned case about. My dislike for Corbin Dallas' and coterie's techniques is so well-known as to hardly bear repeating. I despise the man's bombast, bullying and lack of coherent reasoned arguments, which mean that he resorts to Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh tactics: shout down the oppositon and mock derisively.
Mockery is not an argument, it's the last refuge of weak and lazy minds.

the willingness of a person to get over themselves so they can turn the world on it's ear. people's reactive expressions, so much fun to watch!

Don't get too technical, Nautikos, it kills the joke. Princess Bride is a
classic. If I could recommend one of the funniest movies, to me, ever, I'd say that was in my Top 10.

Nope, Nautikos, it's not even like "mostly dead" either as in Princess
Bride. Remember that one, with Carol Kane and Billy Crystal. "He's not dead, he's mostly dead, not all dead. With all dead, there's only one thing to do: go through his pockets looking for loose change!" ROFLMAO, one of my favorite movies, so many good items.

I didn't say I was right about EVERYTHING, I said I was 'mostly' right. When I later used the word 'always', that was just a little rhethorical flourish, as in 'it's always raining.' Everybody knows that it's not always raining!
See? Right again...

You're partly right, about 1, I can resist anything except temptation, Naut
to quote Mae West, but as to whether I think you're right about EVERYTHING, not likely, and that is why I can't resist the temptation to chain-yanking. I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way, lol.

be tempted in the first place:
2) You have the sneaking suspicion that I am mostly right!
3) In spite of that, I am actually quite nice
And it is irritating as hell to have someone who's always right and nice, because one can't actually be really mad at him, so one resorts to chain-yanking...

Sir, Did you know you have a duck on your head? How many more wax treatments will you be doing? If you plan well you could have your own Wax Menagerie. I loved your post here, Nautikos.

Nautikos, I'm sure that stronger men than you have done weirder things in
name of impressing women. If we boiled down all the most primal motivations, including war (Helen of Troy), and great artistic achievements, then impressing the opposite sex is right up there. If we could all just admit that to ourselves, it would be a refreshing change. Congratulations, this is a moment of self-revelation, and quite funny to boot.
And as I said in my comment in my post back to yours, I am partial to Ducks, because I'm an alumna of the University of Oregon, home of The Ducks!
