Julia, sounds like this machine needed a "requires some assembly and
e.s.p. to figure out which parts don't belong" tag..

Julia--- You wouldn't survive in the rural Midwest without such a machine.
In general, coffee shops and bookstores are in short supply, unlike in the East and West, and particularly the Northwest. Thank goodness for coffee machines and Amazon.

I think everything we buy that requires "some assembly" either has too many parts or not enough. In any event, the assembly process inevitably leaves us scratching our head with the instruction booklet thrown aside.

Fellow Starbucks Addict...
Loved your post - I myself am an admitted Starbucks addict. I bought a fancy coffee machine at home for 700.00 bucks to try to imitate, even bought the actual syrups Starbucks uses for my Grande Non-Fat White Mocha with whip... worked out really great until my divorce - and my husband took my machine!!! LOL Back to Starbucks!! Oh well, I like it better when someone else makes it anyway!
Have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

I I enjoyed reading your cute post. It would be neat to have one of those machines at home. I asked Hubby if we could buy one sometime.
Happy Thanksgiving, Julia.

Hello Julia,
I went through a similar experience last summer when we bought our second DVD player. I couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried. Flustered, I called tech support...Poor lady couldn't figure out what the problem was, so she asked me to make sure I'd secured the connections properly.
Turns out, I had it ass backwards...lol...
Happy Thanksgiving!!...

Homemade is good and inexpensive
but I tend to drink coffee only in company. When I have a visitor I make them espresso in the little stove top espresso maker I was given. I was given it by Italian friends who for years ran a delicatessen.

Sociologists call it the "third place", besides work and home, everybody
seems to need a kind of third place: a pub, a coffee shop, a place to meet and hang out.

LOL, it's funny that you're now making them at home! I always order a
steamer when I go to Starbucks, since I don't really drink coffee (except their cold vanilla fraps)...the steamer I get is vanilla with caramel! YUMMY!

The ambience and attitude don't even come close.
It's like a second home, or living to me now; I don't think I could ever say that about any Starbucks, which, as you said, are consistent, they're just consistently mediocre, imho, better than nothing.
As for the caramel macchiatos, I can't afford a steady diet of those!

I know what you mean. I like to suppost local independent businesses whenever I can. I may even still buy a latte from the espresso hut now and then.

I'll probably tire of these one day and revert back to my other favorite, Chocolate Caramel Enchantment Tea. Sounds fattening but it's really not! And it's delish!

Julia, like I said, when I travel, I look for a Starbucks for that very
reason. It's when I'm at home that I'm at my favorite independent, C & P, there's no comparison.

I know that people love to hate Starbucks, but I appreciate the fact that no matter where you are, there is consistency...i.e., the caramel machiato always tastes the same!

Sounds delectable, and very fattening. I have to watch my waistline, too. My paramedic pants get tight and I know it's time to cut back. It saves me money anyway. lol

That's a far better situation than taking something apart
then putting it back together with one piece left over, like I did to my uncle's cadillac's carbuerator one time...

That's exactly what would happen to me, and my waistline doesn't need any help. I'm bad enough with the flavored creams for my Folger's coffee. Once I'm awake, I can't wait to get to the kitchen and make the coffee, so I can add my flavored cream. I would really be bad with a machine like your's. I also like Bailey's Irish Creme, but I seldom get it anymore. It's just as well.

Julia., sign me up for the Americano Addicts Anonymous, only not at
Starbucks. Here in Seatltle, the home of Starbucks, they're disdained for overroasting thier beans and providing ersatz coffee culture, where there are so many alternatives. But when I'm outside the city, any Starbucks is a good Starbucks!
