Ben, I've given this some thought before and selfishly,
I'm more interested in me. If I give money to someone out of generosity and they somehow tricked me of the money, I still did what I thought was right at the time and it's on them to wait for Karma to come around.

That's a good idea
I haven't been there myself, but what I understand from reading works by people wealthier than me is that it is often harder to judge just who is in need and who's trying to get something for nothing. At least with family you know who's sponging off you. (Poor people aren't immune from this phenomenon, either - all those people who used to crowd the welfare rolls for years on end because all they knew was how to sponge off others for a living.)

I think you're on to something here
The only thing is that once you get enough money to give away, you must learn to screen requests so that you're not wasting money on people who want something for nothing.
