I'll write a post about my experience with him. I think you will like him too. And thanks for the tip on saulrelative's post. I'm all over that next.

saul_relative wrote a post about your Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack throwing his hat in for presidential candidate. I had never heard of him. I know he is Dem and I think you are not, but as an Iowaian (or however you say it) what do you think of him?

Civics 101
You act like the only way for the government to accomplish anything is through legislation. Lets see what a simple majority can accomplish:
1) Shut the government down completely. All appropriations emanate from the House. Nancy & co. can stop the occupation of Iraq simply by cutting off the funding.
2) Change the profile of Presidential appointments. Notice how little we've heard about the current UN ambassador (I forget his name, but he's the one with the bad moustache. His nomination is DOA. I hear Ruth Bader-Ginsburg is ill; do you really think another Roberts will fly this time? Same is true for hundreds of appointees. Anybody notice Rummy is STILL Sec. of Defense? If the Dems rejects his replacement, he's gonna be a millstone around the Republicans' necks if he's still there in 2008. And I hope he will be!
3) "If I can't have my Bills, neither can you!" All Bills are voted out of committee, (which will be chaired by Dems) before they are voted on and signed. (Remember Schoolhouse Rock? "I'm just a Bill...) The President may not be willing to sign any legislation the Democratic Congress passes, but he won't even see any of his bright ideas on paper. This will be the LAST we hear about privatizing Social Security or a manned mission to Mars
4) Changing the rules. Don't want any pesky minority party filibuster? Just change the rules! (The Republicans threatened to). Require only a simple majority to end debate. Do campaign finance laws favor Republicans & their corporate donors? Change 'em.
5) The power of the subpoena. Majority parties can hold investigations, compel testimony, make people (shudder) swear under oath! Once the American people find out some of the shenanigans going on for the last 5 years (without waiting for a NY Times leak) be prepared for a loooooooong Winter's night!
6) Don't forget the state level. Remember Tom Delay's redistricting of Texas, 8 years before the scheduled census? Resulted in a net gain of 5 Congressional seats in Texas (the Republicans would have had a net LOSS without his contribution). Guess who's in charge of state legislatures now? Remember when Bush's campaign manager in Florida was also the state election's chief? (Katherine Harris ring a bell?) Well, that little party's over too.
These are just a few of the changes. There are many more that I'm probably just not aware of; we need areal poli sci wonk on here. But to all the right-wing out there, I have this to say:
Be afraid. Be very afraid!

ROTFLMAO....
You are too funny......
if nominated I will not run....if elected I will not serve......
We will find someone....don't worry...let's be happy watching all of the new broken promises....the skilled leadership choices and the fablious agenda that will be presented to us.......we get to watch and enjoy the comedy.....
As Dick Morris said yesterday.......
For all of the dire warnings and pre-election commotion about the impact of a Democratic majority in Congress, the fact is that — now that it is upon us — it can do little or nothing but harass the administration.
There is no real danger of any legislative action emerging from this Congress. Yes, the president has a veto the Democrats cannot override, but nothing will ever make it as far as the desk at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., are just spinning their wheels.
