I agree with you...
If someone has been in the Word then they can certainly know more than someone who's been saved much longer but not in the Word. The people I was addressing are those who have not been in the Word and think that simply getting saved is enough. The Bible clearly says that we are to renew our minds to the Word of God but someone who sees the Bible as the work of men's minds and not as the Word of the Living God aren't going to read the Word with the same expectation of receiving what it says.
Since faith comes by hearing the Word, if they aren't in the Word expecting to hear from God, their faith can't grow. And, if they aren't in the Word and don't believe it's God's Word to us, then they don't take the commandments seriously and they are open to Satan's deceptions. All he has to do is twist God's Words around like he did in the Garden of Eden and people fall for his traps.
The Word is an essential part of salvation and walking in God's will but if someone has decided that the Bible is not God's Word, they won't take it seriously and they won't grow.

whimsystoryteller you have posted some legitimate
questions in relation to Scripture. However, I am not so sure I agree that the number of years as a Christian is the main factor as to whether one knows and believes God speaks to us through Scripture. The message of Scripture and the message of prayer is directly related to faith. Some have great faith, some do not and years is not necessarily the key ingredient for the degree of faith needed to believe in Scripture as the Word of God! Blessings!
