Thank you Troosha !
It's in our Levies mam our jeans, fire must of been that one gift from God that see us through after being expelled from Eden, that of the angry father though unforgiven for the deed against his will and better judgment could not see us cast out without hope. Fire I believe was that hope, the cooking pot before the table. Now we have the microwave and hardly any families sit and break bread together. Its all rush and no cuddles. Thank you again mam for your valued comments    Michael

It's amazing the images we can see within the flames of a fire - emergeing, disappearing, and re-emerging in a different shape.  Imagine what yu would have seen if HAD been sipping scotch.  Very vivid poem which I could follow with ease and enjoyment.

Hi Tony !

Hope you and your's are well friend! Sorry you have not experienced the warmth of the open fire in winter, Its better then the T.V In my humble opining, like laying on your back on hot summer days watching the fluffy clouds and their ever changing shapes, only better I feel because of the warmth it provides. My grandfather gave me advice in.

'' Michael always keep an open fire, at least in one of the rooms where you may dwell if you are able, because if you run out of cash and God forbid Can't pay your bills, even if they cut you off from gas and electric you still have a means of warmth and cooking ! ''

This advice served me well Tony, also round this neck of the woods there is so much fuel in logs 100 pounds worth delivered to your door will get you through three months of the cold season. Plus if you get yourself a back boiler put in behind your fire and keep it going, all your heating comes in with the price plus hot water. Thanks again for your interest friend. Mike

Mike, a great poem and story combined.
I don't have that much experience, never having had a real fire in the house and not having done much camping. I did used to have a gas fire with those fake flames inside, but that's the nearest I've ever got to it. A nice calm and fun way to spend some time with partner or kids, looking into the flames. I can imagine what it must be like thanks to this!

You are so right Jacenta !
I love a fire for just letting the mind relax and company with friends laughing and joking round the fire camp fire as you so rightly said, especially, I believe thats where the entertainment of long ago would of been held stores for the children, Then once they had gone off to their beds , then the adult stuff just like T.V is now but much better because the people would become the T.V screen, everyone would have their moment on the stage. Thank you again friend for your interest  !! Mike

lionladroar...
There is something special about starring into a fire and watching the flames dance. I especially enjoy a camp fire and the blue flame that gives heat.

Hi TAPS, hope you and your's are well mam !
Nor had I TAPS till last night, though I've cooked bacon and eggs on shovels before, I worked on the coast defences where we were governed by the tides, dangerous work but paid well. Some days we might start work at one am, no cafes open then at Woodbridge Sufflok England, so we would use (The Paddies Friningpan) a shovel, clean preferable, placing it upside down on the fire, then just sizzle away. Last night I roasted chestnuts on my lounge open fire, using a spade, simple just placing them on top till the shell cracked. Marieclaire gave me the idear, from her last comment. Though the Calamine Tea is factious, I had my couple of large scotches. I just wondered what the mix of the said tea and the chestnuts would do for the mind! Only Tina swears by the tea for calming the days stress away before sleep. Thanks again TAPS for your interest mam.  Mike

lionladroar, Your flame reminds me a little of an orange Pillsbury Doughboy.  LOL  Hope you're not offended.   Now I'm going back to read the poem.
