Thanks, Pat B. Grew up on a small chicken farm (mostly subsistence) but
didn't know that. Couldn't stand the nasty little beasts.

Speaking of weather predictors -- look at the chickens...
Let's say it's morning, and it's raining. If the chickens are out there scratching and eating, it will rain all day. If they're staying in the coop it means the sky will clear soon and there's plenty of time to snack after the clouds go by. Wild birds do this, too in case you're running short of white leghorns.

I saw a show once, I believe it was '60 Minutes' but I could be wrong,
this guy ran a little radio station in the middle of nowhere, Montana (or Wyoming, I forget) who divined the weather by the position of goats on the hillside. He was almost never wrong. Says something about our fancy meteorological gadgets, eh?

Yeah...it has seemed colder than usual here too!
The weatherman will say little or no chance for snow in the city tonight. Then I wake to...snow!

They know next to nothing, OneTimeAgain, even with their fancy
measuring gadgets. Look at the terrible hurricane season we just went through. Uh, that's right. We didn't, but they damn sure predicted another year like the previous two. Weather depends on far too many variables commingling or diverging to be truly measured accurately over time. So far, that is...

I have a friend
in the pacific northwest.. he is crying now because he had read they were going to have a wramer than usual winter by the weather folks in that area. How do they know these things?
Its been freezing cold and lots of snow and ice there.. I told him it wouldnt help to be in the south where I am because its cold here also.
