Great advice... I sometimes feel quilty if I am on Blogit too much
and sometimes I feel quilty that I don't read enough people on Blogit. I suppose you have to have a good balance. These days I do not have much time on Blogit but I spend alot of time with my kids. I usually have some time in the morning in the office and then again in the evening to Blog. I enjoy reading about people far away from us. And it is not always possible to have people in real life to talk to.

Excellent reminder...Sometimes I think I spend too much time with my family, if that's possible..Since we live in a very small town we have contact on a daily basis...I couldn't imagine a day to go by without talking with them or seeing them...but I understand what you are saying my friend~

You are right that on-line relationships do serve a purpose. But, I think we choose them at the expense of the ones that need attending, too. It is easy to come here and interact on our own terms, and push a button when we choose it to be over.

It would be irresponsible of me to sit here for hours when my kids were being neglected. I felt that you see it the same way.

Nice illustration of an important point. We underestimate our impact on others, especially when we rush about here and there.

I think it cuts both ways . We should give first priority to
people around us but for many the computer is a lifeline, giving human interaction on a frequency not always available in real life particularly the way that society is set up now where everyone must drive everywhere and the mall is the hub.

I wish you lived next door so I could give you a great big
hug! Your post is so appropriate and
truthful! That is one of the virtues I have found in your writing.
I do not have a child to hug so give your son an extra hug today from me! Blessings!

Very good advice
I have found myself in such situations on occasion, especially when I was new to Blogging and the excitement was still fresh. I now spend less time on the computer as my kids need the attention more. You would have noticed that it is very rare these days that I post or read anything on the weekends. This is my family time

There are very few who, having done something unwittingly, realize their mistake, and simultaneously set upon to correct themselves. But 95 or even more, don't. That's the problem. Once Gautam Buddha was walking with his cousin, Anand, and a fly sat on his neck. He kept talking and as anyone would do, instinctively waved off the fly. But he suddenly stopped, closed his eyes, and again went through the motion of removing the fly. Anand was surprised. There was no fly now, and asked. Buddha replied, "I committed a grave mistake. Unconsciously what I did was an insult to the fly, now I am paying my respects consciously".
