Thanks, Xenox, for the information!
Always appreciated. Now then - provide documentation for it, as I did mine.

Welcome, Joe!
Yes, I did come up with that one. It was a natural after he named the dog in his kid's book Splash (see
http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/WriterofLight/333325). There are also Crash Kennedy, so named for his driving last year, and Crash's cousin (I think) Flash, better known as Robert F. Kennedy Junior and notorious for flashy radical environmental statements (such as blaming Hurricane Katrina on President Bush and Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour).

welfare reform has not worked -- it is a sham
i have had first hand experience
it is based on false premises.
also, the children are not taken off aid; they just get another "custodial parent" collecting aid after the initial cutoff, either an aunt or grandmother or such.
but the premise of welfare reform -- that many have been living high off of the govt and don't have to work -- that doesn't hold water. in fact, several years ago, in Missouri, it was discovered that the average time on aid to families with dependent children was about two years (coincidentally, politicians began running on "reforming" welfare where they would make it that women would stay on for an average of two years [nice twisting, eh wot?]).
then these girls having children to get all that money from the govt -- very little money -- and if anyone thinks they will live high off the hog on what they get from welfare, they are grossly misinformed -- just ain't true
every generation, the general public is misinformed about the "welfare cadillac" syndrome. I remember visiting homes of women on aid -- very poor circumstances.
the problem is with the circumstances and education (lack of) that leads to having to get aid. the problem is with a govt and society that ignores the problems of poverty and lack of education and a culture where children grow up without guidance and strong positive role models -- and nothing is done to improve that.
the problem is with medical expenses -- many people cannot afford those -- they can only get jobs with low pay -- no medical benefits -- and cannot afford medical benefits -- and with even the lowest paying jobs, they are no longer eligible for aid and the medical benefits.
so the choice is: job without medical and difficulties when children are sick -- or no job, and aid and medical benefits for the children.
hard choice huh?
just wanted to shed some real light on the subject instead of your continued false light.
